Rally fans know that the 2015 Subaru WRX is one of the most legendary titles in the entire sport. And in an amazing new video that the automaker recently released on the model, we see a great new piece of evidence as to why this model is so well-known.
In the video, we a stock, U.S. specs 2015 WRX STI model (with the exception of a roll cage and racing seat belts, and upgraded shocks), driven by Mark Higgins, set a brand new record for a full lap of the Isle of Man. Mark Higgins has been a long time member of the Subaru racing team, and he's had his eye on this prestigious record for some time. And in the 2015 WRX, which boasts 28 high way miles per gallon, and a powerful 268-horsepower 2.0L 4-cylinder Boxer engine and a responsive 6-speed transmission, he achieves that record.
The video adds a whole other layer of entertainment as the driver narrates it himself, and by displaying some biometric data on the screen as well, showing just how high Mark's heart rate got on this world-record-setting lap. And with top speeds approaching 150 MPH, how could you blame him? Have a look below for the whole scoop.
