The second vehicle in the lineup to benefit from Subaru's all-new global platform, the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek stepped out on the global stage at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show--where to other countries it is known as the Subaru XV--and its making quite the impression.

Major Changes and Updates

This is Crosstrek's first major redesign since it was originally introduced back in 2012, so Subaru had a lot to work with to bring the model up to speed. The new platform gives the new 2018 Crosstrek a stiffer, lighter, and stronger body, which Subaru says helps increase safety and fuel economy, and reduces cabin noise.

One of the largest complaints of the first-generation Crosstrek was its rather noisy cabin, so this should be a big plus for the all-new model.

Immediate visual cues also hint that the 2018 Crosstrek (which was originally created as a boosted, muscled-up version of the Impreza hatchback) took a lot of inspiration from the all-new 2017 Impreza. However, since the new Impreza is absolutely gorgeous, this is definitely a good thing. Classic Crosstrek designs--like scratch-resistant cladding, a darker grille finish, and some serious ground clearance--proves that this subcompact SUV hasn't forgotten its roots.

Standard features on the new model include 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment, compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rearview camera, and--as always--Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Upgrade to higher trim levels for EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, Harmon Kardon premium sound, leather upholstery, heated seats, and navigation.
